(Cochin-Munnar-Periyar (Thekkady)-Kumarakom-Alleppey-Houseboat cruise)
Day 1 Cochin:
Arrive Cochin by flight or train. On arrival, meet and greet by Concept Voyages' representative and transfer to the City Hotel. Cochin known as the queen of the Arabian Sea is one of the most interesting cities of India and has one of the finest natural harbours in the world. St Francis Church, built in 1510 by friars brought to India by Vasco da Gama, is the first European church built in India and is the site where da Gama was buried. The Jewish Synagogue was built in 1568, Chinese hand-painted tiles are one of the attraction. This, the only Synagogue in India has a nostalgic past of a Jewish Diaspora. The "Dutch Palace" was built in the 1550s; the palace contains excellent mythological murals and a rare example of traditional Keralite flooring - a subtle mix of burnt coconut shells, lime, plant juices and egg whites - which gives the effect of polished marble. Go for a short sight seeing tour of Cochin. Overnight at the Hotel.
Day 2 Cochin-Munnar (130kms, 3hrs): Morning, after breakfast, proceed to Munnar, known as nature lover’s paradise. Enjoy the sight seeing places of Munnar. Munnar, snuggling in the green and serene Kannan Devan Hills lies the quite and restful resort of Munnar, at an altitude of 1524 m and 136 km off Cochin. Panoramic views of low-flying clouds and mist filled valleys make it a pretty little heaven with a cool bracing climate. Overnight at the Resort.
Day 3 Munnar:
Full day sight seeing of Munnar. Visit, Mattupetty, Top Station, Kundala etc.. Visit Eravikulam National Park known for the Nilgiri Thar, an endangered species and Mattuppetty dam. Visit tea plantation and tea factory, to watch tea being picked, to learn how tea is processed, smell the sweet scent of tea wafting through the air and buy the tea directly from the gardens. Overnight at the Resort.
Day 4 Munnar- Periyar (90 kms, 2 hrs, 30 mins): After breakfast, you will be transferred to Periyar, the famous wildlife destination of Kerala. Full day explore wildlife beauty of Periyar. Perched amidst dense greenery, in the outskirts of the Periyar Tiger Reserve, the sole Tiger reserve of the Country, Thekkady, with its bountiful treasures of tropical flora and fauna, is the ultimate reservoir, of many an endangered species and a rich tribal culture. The greatest attraction of Periyar remains the large herds of wild elephants, which come down to the lakes edge. Evening enjoy the common boat cruise at Periyar Lake to spot the wild animals. Overnight at the Hotel.
Day 5 Periyar-Kumarakom (145 kms, 3 hrs, 30 mins): After breakfast, check out from the Hotel & proceed to Kumarakom, which is famous for its backwater & scenic beauty, sprinkled with traditional houseboats, country crafts, rural lifestyles and Tranquility. The enchanting backwater destination of Kumarakom is a small village that is a cluster of little islands on the Vembanad Lake in Kerala. Kumarakom strengthens Kerala’s reputation for being God’s own country with its unbelievably beautiful mangrove forests, coconut groves and emerald green paddy fields interspersed with enchanting waterways and canals adorned with while lilies. It is a breathtaking bout to experience a solitary and calm glide through this network of waterways. On arrival at Kumarakom check in at the resort. Overnight at the Resort.
Day 6 Kumarakom-Alleppey
by Houseboat:
Morning, after breakfast, check out from the Resort & board for an unforgettable Houseboat journey. What is truly magical about a houseboat ride is the breathtaking view of the untouched and otherwise inaccessible rural Kerala that it offers. The houseboats have all the creature comforts of a good hotel including furnished bedrooms, modern toilets, cosy living rooms, a kitchen and even a balcony for angling. Meals would be cooked on board and supplemented with fresh fish from the backwaters. Today, the tradition is still continued and the food from the local cuisine is served by the Kuttanad localities, on board! Enjoy your lunch & dinner on board! Overnight at the Houseboat.
Day 7 Alleppey-Cochin (65kms, 1hr): After breakfast, check out from the Houseboat & proceed to Cochin Railway Station or Airport for the departure transfer.
