(Nairobi-Samburu-Aberdares-Nakuru-Masai Mara)

 

Day 1 Nairobi: Met and great on arrival at Jomo Kenyatta International airport by Concept Voyages' representative and transfer to Hotel Intercontinental. Overnight stay at hotel.

Day 2 Nairobi-Samburu: After an early breakfast, check-out and drive to Samburu Game Reserve. This drive will take you through the central highlands where you will be able to see large scale coffee, flower and pineapple farming. You will stop briefly at the Equator line for a short demonstration. Check-in to Samburu Serena Lodge for a sumptuous lunch. Later proceed for afternoon game viewing drive in this game reserve in search of wildlife. Dinner and overnight at the lodge.

 

Day 3 Samburu National Reserve: After breakfast proceed to Samburu Game reserve for morning and afternoon game drives. This semi arid countryside is a bird lover's paradise. The game reserve is also unique as it is home to some wildlife which can only be found here. These are the gerenuk, reticulated giraffe and the gravy's zebra. Other wild animals including the 'big five' are also found here. Return back for dinner and overnight stay at the lodge.

 

Day 4 Samburu-Aberdares: Breakfast at the lodge. Morning drive to the Aberdares National Park. Lunch at Aberdare Country Club and transfer to the Ark. Afternoon tea, coffee at the Ark. The Ark is set in thick woodland at the heart of the Aberdare National Park and is designed with numerous viewing decks, balconies and lounges that allow you to watch animals visiting the waterhole and salt lick. A ground level viewing area provides excellent photographic opportunities and a floodlit waterhole allows all-night game viewing. Dinner and overnight at the tree hotel.
Note: Only small overnight bags are allowed to the Tree hotel. Other luggage will be stored at Base hotel. Children below 7 years are not allowed in a Tree hotel.

 

Day 5 Aberdares-Nakuru: After breakfast at the Ark, transfer to the Aberdare Country Club to retrieve your luggage. Drive to Nakuru-means 'place of the waterbuck' in the Great Rift Valley. Check in to Lake Nakuru Lodge. After lunch proceed for, Afternoon game viewing drive in the park. The Lake Nakuru is best known as an ornithologists paradise mainly due to the vast populations of flamingos that live around this soda lake. The rare black rhino, the white rhino and many other wild animals can also be found here. There is a very high chance of seeing the nocturnal and very elusive leopard. Dinner and overnight stay at the lodge.

 

Day 6 Lake Nakuru-Masai Mara: Breakfast at Lake Nakuru Lodge and drive to the Masai Mara Game Reserve, Kenya’s finest and best known game reserve. Lunch at Mara Sopa Lodge. Afternoon proceed for game viewing drive. The greatest attraction in the Mara is watching the animals in their natural element; a lion's roar, a cheetah making a kill, and the big elephant herds are all very fascinating events. You will also meet the Maasai who are the inhabitants of this reserve and are a proud and largely aloof tribe who have held on to their customs and traditions for hundreds of years. Dinner and overnight stay at Mara Sopa Lodge.

 

Day 7 Masai Mara National Reserve: Early morning game viewing drive in the rolling hills, woodlands and rivers that make up the Mara in search of more game. The animals are more active at this time of the day. Return to the lodge for breakfast. Morning at leisure to relax by the pool. Have a buffet lunch at the lodge. Afternoon proceed for game viewing drive in the reserve in search of more wildlife. Return to the Lodge for dinner and overnight stay.

 

Day 8 Masai Mara-Nairobi: After breakfast, depart and drive to Nairobi. This drive guide takes you through the floor of the Great Rift Valley and past the past the escarpment, stopping at strategic view points for photography. Upon arrival into Nairobi, you will be transferred to the airport for your international departure flight.

Leopard- Samburu nationalpark -  are famously elusive hunters that stalk their prey at night. For most visitors the only chance of spotting one is on night drives

Zebra - are common in national parks throughout Africa and easily recognized due to their striking white and black stripes. Burchell's zebra is the more common subspecies, with gray "shadow" stripes, while the rarer Crawshay's zebra (found in Zambia's South Luangwa) lack these.

Giraffe- are the tallest mammals on earth. Males reach a height of up to 5.2 metres and females 4.7 metres. Giraffes have a maximum mass of 1400 kg. Giraffes live in loose family groups and newborn calves join the group after one week

Aberdares Waterbuck - is a medium-size antelope with grey-brown fur and distinctive backside markings. There are two types: one has white ring often likened to sitting on a just-painted toilet seat, while the other has a solid white circle.

Famingo's - Lake Nakuru is best known as an ornithologists paradise mainly due to the vast populations of flamingos that live around this soda lake.

Wildbeest - are fierce beasts, males may reach up 700 kg in weight. They live in herds and have a strong social bond. They can form groups of up to several thousand members when the environment permits and groups are organized by dominant males and females. Predators are actively attacked to defend calves, injured or old members.
