Mexico-Aztec & Maya-9 days

Day 1 Mexico City arrival:
Arrive at Mexico City. You will be welcomed by Concept Voyages’s representative who will transfer you to hotel. Free day at leisure. Overnight stay at hotel.

Day 2 Mexico City:
Breakfast at hotel. Depart for sightseeing tour of the historic down town, declared World Heritage Site by UNESCO since 1987. You will see the “Zócalo” or main square, the Cathedral, the Government Palace with Diego Rivera’s murals, where you will find five centuries of history of Mexico. Enjoy the panoramic view of some beautiful buildings such as The Mining Palace, National Art Museum, Post Office and the Alameda central park, where the Fine Arts Palace is located. Later head to the Reforma Avenue and Chapultepec area. Visit the Anthropology Museum, one of the most important museums of the world. You are free to stay back at the museum to visit Teotihuacan, Toltec, Olmec or Mixtec-Zapotec cultures and return back to hotel leisurely on your own. Overnight stay at hotel.

Day 3 Basilica of Guadalupe & Teotihuacan Pyramids:
Breakfast at hotel. Depart for a tour to the Three Cultures Square at Tlatelolco area. Continue to Guadalupe Shrine, the second most visited catholic sanctuary in the world. Head to the archaeological site of Teotihuacán, “where the men become gods”. We will admire this advanced culture with the Sun and Moon pyramids, the Temple of Quetzalcoatl and the Butterflies Palace. visit two impressive ceremonial centers, Teotihuacan (Prehispanic) and the Shrine of Guadalupe (contemporary), witch outline the majority religious development of the Mexican people. Continue to Teotihuacan "the city of the Gods”, according with the Aztec myth, with more than 2,500 years of History. This place had a vital development, based on the Uses of the natural fiber textiles and obsidian tools and raw materials exchange. This will be explained in detail in a crafts center and you will have the chance to buy a souvenir alluding to this visit. You will be enter to the enigmatic archaeological site, visiting the temples of “Quetlzalpapalotl” (bird - butterfly) and the "Feathered Shells" and the whole Pyramid of the Moon. Finally ending with the impressive Pyramid of the Sun. You will be guided into a local restaurant for your take your lunch (not included). Afterwards you will be delight to visit of the Shrine of Guadalupe, which is Mexico's largest religious shrine, where the San Juan Diego's Tilma is keep, with the most venerated image in Mexico, the Virgin of Guadalupe, "Matron Saint of America”. Visit the handicraft factory to buy some souvenirs before returning to hotel for overnight stay.

Day 4 Mexico City-Merida:
Breakfast at hotel. Checkout from hotel, you will be transferred to airport for boarding flight (flight ticket not included) to Merida. You will be welcomed by Concept Voyages’ representative who will transfer you to hotel for check in. Free day at leisure. Mérida and the state of Yucatán have traditionally been isolated from the rest of the country by geography, creating a unique culture. The conquistadors found the Mayan culture to be incredibly resilient, and their attempts to eradicate Mayan tradition, religion, and culture had only moderate success. The surviving remnants of the Mayan culture can be seen every day, in speech, dress, and in both written and oral histories. It is especially apparent in holidays like Hanal Pixan, a Mayan/Catholic Day of the Dead celebration. Overnight stay at hotel.

Day 5 Merida-Uxmal Light & Sound Show:
Breakfast at hotel. After noon depart to Uxmal, the city that has been built three times, lies majestic surrounded by nature, witness of the Mayan’s lifestyle at its peak. It is 38 miles away from Merida and it is considered one of the most representative Mayan site in the Puuc area, name given to describe the architectural style of the region. Once at the site we will explore its beautiful palaces declared World Heritage by the UNESCO, all of them built following a quadrangular design and connected by roads. You’ll get surprised admiring its rich sculptural elements as well as with the magical legends about the origins of this city. We will walk around outstanding monuments such as: the Magician’s Pyramid, the Nuns Quadrangle, the Governor’s Palace and the Temple of the Masks. After visiting Uxmal we will go to a picturesque restaurant where you will enjoy a delicious dinner buffet style as well as get relaxed after the stroll around the site. Then we will return to the archaeological area for admiring the spectacular light and sound show which describes the history of the Mayans, and it is considered one of the best in the world. You cannot miss this great experience! Return to Merida city for overnight stay.

Day 6 Merida-Chichen-Cancun-River Maya:
Breakfast at hotel. Continue on to Chichen Itzá, considered the cosmic university of Mayan culture. This archaeological site reveals the Mayan knowledge on mathematics, architecture and astronomy. We will see important buildings like the Kukulcan temple or “the Castle”, the Ballgame Court, the skull temple, the Jaguar’s temple, the Observatory, the One Thousand Columns, and the Sacred Well. Enjoy lunch at local restaurant. Visit a water well (cenote). Continue to Cancún for overnight stay.

Day 7 Cancún:
Breakfast at hotel. Free day at leisure in Cancún. Overnight stay at hotel.

Day 8 Cancún:
Breakfast at hotel. Free day at leisure in Cancún. Overnight stay at hotel.

Day 9 Cancún departure:
Breakfast at hotel. Checkout from hotel and you will be transferred to Cancún airport for boarding flight home.

End of tour.
